COYOTE ROCK LEGEND
According to Shuswap Legend, Seklep—the figure known as Coyote—was ultimately transformed into "coyote rocks," the large boulders found throughout the territory. These rocks are more than just part of the landscape; they hold cultural and spiritual meaning for the Secwepemc people. They serve as reminders of Seklep’s presence and stories, and they let the Shuswap and others know they are within the traditional lands of the Secwepemc Nation.
